Bumbling Batman caught on video while burglarizing Alabama churches, police say

Holy, guacamole, Batman’s a burglar?

Police in Jasper, Alabama, are searching for a person they say burglarized two area churches Thursday evening, according to a news release on the department’s Facebook page.

Surveillance video shows a rather surprising culprit: a person dressed as Batman, himself.

Video shows the caped crusader lying flat on the ground behind a short brick retaining wall — on church grounds, according to WBMA — apparently hiding from the surveillance camera.

The culprit then crawls to his or her feet before stepping up over the retaining wall and right up to the camera, giving full view to a cloth Batman mask, the video shows.

Police say “Batman” snagged a number of musical instruments and electronics, according to the release.

Anyone with information that could help officials find the Batman impersonator are asked to contact Jasper Police at 205-221-2121, Walker County Sheriff at 205-302-6464 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
