As caucus turns chaotic, Ivanka Trump shares memory of Iowa McDonald’s meal with dad
As the Iowa caucus turned chaotic for Democrats late Monday, Ivanka Trump shared fond recollections of eating McDonald’s food there with her dad during his previous caucus visit.
“Memories from Iowa... post caucus snack with dad on Trump Force One!” she tweeted and posted on Instagram.
A photo showed the father and daughter eating burgers and fries aboard the private jet, with her using a plate and him sitting with the bag in his lap.
President Donald Trump is an infamous fan of McDonald’s Big Macs and Quarter Pounders and was once referred to as “the nation’s fast food president” and a “junk food aficionado” by The New York Times.
Fans of the first family appreciated Ivanka Trump’s post with 42,000 likes, thanking them “for being real.” Critics were plentiful, too, blasting the president’s diet and expressing shock “that people actually eat McDonald’s food.”
“I love that our president and his daughter eat McDonald’s!! They’re just like us!! He gets us cuz he is us!” Kelly Grant tweeted.
The Iowa caucus is proving to be anything but memorable for Democrats, with McClatchy News reporting late Monday that “the lead-off Democratic presidential contest dissolved into chaos and confusion.”
Specifically, Iowa Democrats were unable to determine a winner, “leaving an indelible blemish on a byzantine political tradition and providing little clarity on the 2020 race,” McClatchy reported.
Iowa Democratic party officials say “inconsistencies and technical snafus” are requiring them to recount votes on Tuesday.
