EMT accused of forcing woman to perform oral sex on way to hospital, Illinois cops say

A paramedic in Illinois was arrested Monday after a woman reported that he forced her to perform oral sex while en route to the hospital back in July, police say.

On July 22, police in Urbana were called to a local hospital after a 48-year-old woman claimed Jeffrey Sanford Jr. — an EMT — pressured her into performing oral sex while the two were on their way to the hospital in an ambulance, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement to McClatchy News.

During his initial interview, Sanford, 47, denied the claims, police say.

Officials collected DNA samples from Sanford and the woman’s sexual assault kit and sent them to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Newly obtained results determined that Sanford’s DNA matched what was found on the victim, police said in the statement.

Sanford was interviewed again on Monday while he was on duty at the Rantoul Police Department and was arrested, police say.

He’s charged with sexual assault and is being held in the Champaign County Correctional Center. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday, according to jail records.
