Pet dog attacks and kills 25-year-old man, injures three others, Illinois cops say

A man in Illinois is dead after he and three others were attacked by their pet dog Saturday, police say.

Around 9:15 p.m., police in Plainfield responded to an area home following a call about a dog bite, officials said in a news release.

When they arrived, police say they found a pit bull-like dog behaving aggressively. Officers tried to get control of the animal, but it was still displaying aggressive behaviors toward police and was immediately euthanized, according to the release.

Police found four victims on the second story of the home, including a 25-year-old man with “severe injuries to his arms,” officials say. He was rushed to an area hospital before being transferred to another where he was pronounced dead, WLS reported.

A 52-year-old woman, 25-year-old woman and 19-year-old were also bitten by the dog and treated for minor injuries, police say.

The victims owned the dog and police say it attacked “unprovoked,” according to the release.

An investigation by Plainfield Police Department and Will County Animal Control is ongoing.
