Cary Patonai knew her third son was expected to be big for a newborn.

Then she gave birth fo Finnley Patonai, weighing in at 14 pounds, 1 ounce at birth at a Phoenix, Arizona, hospital, KNXV reported.

“As soon as they pulled him out, they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s huge!’” Cary Patonai told KSAZ. “Everybody was freaking out like, ‘I’ve never seen a baby that big, I can’t believe it.’”

Finnley was like “a little celebrity” at the hospital following his delivery via C-section, Fox News reported.

“They couldn’t wait to get him on the scale,” Cary Patonai told KNXV.

The family had to shop for bigger diapers and clothes because the hospital didn’t stock ones large enough for Finnley, she told Fox News.

“He’s gonna be a football player, get him in those pads,” dad Tim Patonai said a friend quipped, KNXV reported.

The couple had 19 miscarriages, KSAZ reported.

“He is such a good sweet baby,” Cary Patonai told Fox News. “I am so grateful everything ended on such a great positive side.”

The hospital declined to say whether Finnley’s birth set a record, citing patient confidentiality, KSAZ reported.
