House that turned ‘Elm Street’ into a nightmare lists for $3.2 million in California
Halloween is right around the corner, which means a lot of ghostly happenings are popping up all over — even in the world of real estate. The house that was the center of Wes Craven’s 1984 horror film “A Nightmare on Elm Street” has listed for $3.25 million.
And no, this isn’t a trick.
The iconic 6,752-square-foot residence was the home of the fictional Nancy Thompson, the main character who is hunted in her dreams by an enigmatic murderer named Freddy Krueger with a charred face and a taste for teenage blood.
While the street and address were fake, the 3 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom home is very real and available — but only for those willing to get their offers in on the house by midnight on Oct. 31, The Los Angeles Times reported.
“Highlights include an open, retro-modern kitchen, beautiful built-ins, a grand primary suite, bathrooms en suite to every bedroom, separate laundry room, and multiple work from home options,” the listing on Realtor.com says. “Patios, terraces, picture windows and countless French doors, maximize the use of the gorgeous grounds.”
There is also a pool in the immaculate backyard of the dream home, and even a detached guest house that “is charm personified.”
The residence has captured the eye of the Facebook page Zillow Gone Wild, where fans commented on the property.
“That price tho!” one person exclaimed. “Yikes! I know it’s in LA and all but … does Johnny Depp come with the house??”
“I love it, but would have to change the front door to one with a tiny window,” another fan said. “Or else Nancy’s mom can’t get pulled in and the ending will be ruined.”
“I’d only consider buying if Johnny Depp still lives across the street,” one person remarked.
“This house is incredible,” another said. “I dunno about taking a bath there though.”
“This is the most unexpectedly tastefully renovated and decorated home I’ve ever seen on here,” one person observed. “Like I didn’t quite expect a 10-foot tall Freddy stand-in or anything, but this is just incredibly balanced and nice.”
“Does it come with the nightmares?” another asked.
