Boyfriend accused of sex trafficking girlfriend is killed by her father, WA cops say
A 60-year-old man was arrested in the killing of his daughter’s boyfriend after his body was discovered in the trunk of a car, Washington police said.
The father was booked into jail on Oct. 29 on a first-degree murder charge.
The man is accused of killing his daughter’s 19-year-old boyfriend, who he thought sold his child to a sex trafficking organization in the Seattle area, Spokane Police Department said in a Nov. 1 post on Facebook.
He abducted the 19-year-old in November 2020 after rescuing his daughter from sex trafficking the month before, police said.
When the father saw the boyfriend, he tied him up and put the man in his trunk, police said.
He is accused of hitting the boyfriend in the head with a cinder block and stabbing him until he died in Airway Heights, according to police. The name of the man who died was not released.
Then he drove to north Spokane County, police said, and abandoned the car with the body in the trunk.
Nearly a year later, someone drove the car back to Spokane, not knowing the body was hidden inside, police said.
Police responded “to an abandoned vehicle with a foul odor emanating from it” on Oct. 22.
The father was booked into the Spokane County Jail and is being held on a $1 million bail. He has no prior criminal history, according to police.
Airway Heights is about 9 miles west of Spokane.
Editor’s note: McClatchy News is withholding the father’s identity to protect his daughter’s privacy.
