Getting distracted at a convenience store just made a Virginia man wealthy.

Dennis Willoughby of Richmond was on a mission “to buy some chocolate milk for his kids” when it happened, Virginia Lottery officials said in a news release.

He was at a 7-Eleven, imagined himself winning the lottery, and bought a $1,000,000 Platinum Jackpot ticket.

Tickets are $10, which is a lot more than chocolate milk, even at a convenience store.

“When he scratched the ticket, it turned out to be a top prize winner,” lottery officials said.

“He won the choice of either the full $1 million prize in annual payments over 30 years, or a one-time cash option of $640,205 before taxes.”

He went for the cash.

The 7-Eleven also got a $10,000 kickback from the state lottery for selling the ticket, officials said.

Players must beat odds of 1 in 1,632,000 to win a top prize in the $1,000,000 Platinum Jackpot game. Odds of winning a lesser prize (ranging from $10 to $10,000) are about 1 in 4.

Game officials didn’t say how Willoughby intended to spend his newfound wealth — or if he intended to give his kids a kickback, too.
