A pickup truck slammed into a Long Beach apartment, killing a father and his 3-year-old girl, California police reported.

The driver jumped out and ran away after the crash at 10 p.m. Monday, March 1, police said in a news release.

Officers arriving at the crash found a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck had gone through a wall into the apartment, killing a 42-year-old man, police said.

His 3-year-old daughter was taken to a hospital, where she died, the release said. Their identities are being withheld while their next of kin are notified.

Video from the scene shows the truck halfway inside the apartment, KTLA reported.

Police are looking for the driver, described as a 20- to 25-year-old man. Investigators say speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.

They ask that anyone with information call 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips can be submitted through L.A. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
