Charming house for sale in Kentucky has a ‘wild’ basement. Would you make any changes?
Some houses can be unassuming on the outside — charming, a tad on the ordinary side.
Though sometimes, the adorable exterior is a mask for a much wilder interior. This house on the real estate market in Louisville, Kentucky, for $235,000 fits that mold to a tee.
“Maintained with care and creativity through the years, this unique home has gorgeous detail and great living space,” the listing on Zillow.com says of the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home.
Creativity is the key word when it comes to one area of the house — the basement.
While bits of color pop from areas of the interior throughout the main part of the house, the basement seems to have a life of its own.
“You will be blown away by the secret patio and surprise walk out party basement with hand painted murals by local artist (and former chef of Lynn’s Paradise Cafe) Lindsay Roberts,” the listing describes.
The 1,749-square-foot property, which was built in 1892, also features some modern updates including a large kitchen with a breakfast bar and “pretty tile backsplash.”
But the real draw is that basement, which managed to turn heads on the popular real estate Facebook page, Zillow Gone Wild.
“I’m a Louisville native. I love it, and the basement is great even though it’s not my thing,” one person said. “(Tell me you live in the Highlands without telling me you live in the Highlands.)“
“I would live here until I was 99 with 17 cats and (greet) random delivery men in sheer robes with boa feathered collars,” another joked.
“I would probably paint those neon green doors white and leave all the basement murals intact,” one person expressed. “But I am weird, I love murals and street art.”
“Went to tour this house today,” someone added. “The basement is WILD but the rest of the house is pretty adorable. Just needs a little love. It’s in a great part of the city.”
“I hope whomever buys this house doesn’t touch any of the beautiful artwork that went into creating this,” one person said. “If you want normal, buy a different house. Hopefully someone who appreciates it will buy it and keep it as it is in all ... (its) wonderful wackiness.”
“They definitely love color, the basement would be cool if you ran a daycare,” another said.
