Chunk of ice strikes visitor at Utah waterfall, breaking bones in his face, cops say
A Utah waterfall visitor was struck by a “large chunk of ice,” the sheriff’s department said.
The incident prompted a rescue in “dangerous” conditions at the Bridal Veil Falls, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said in an April 7 Facebook post.
The man in his 30s broke several bones in his face, the department said.
As rescuers worked to reach the man, rocks and ice fell, deputies said.
One rescuer was struck by a small rock but they weren’t “seriously injured,” the department said.
The injured visitor was airlifted from the waterfall, deputies said.
The popular 607-foot waterfall in Utah includes an easy out-and-back hiking trail, according to AllTrails.com.
