Wynonna Judd turned to another country music icon from Kentucky before she delivered a comeback performance at the CMT Music Awards on Monday, April 11.

Judd, who performed alongside her mother, Naomi Judd, called Loretta Lynn as she was preparing for the award show.

“You have any advice for me tonight on TV?” Wynonna Judd asks Lynn on speaker phone as she gets her makeup done.

“Yeah, keep your drawers on,” Lynn responded as Judd burst out in laughter.

The Judds — both fully clothed — belted out “Love Can Build a Bridge” during Monday night’s award show. It was their first televised performance in more than 20 years.

It was also reportedly the first time they have performed together at the CMT Awards. Earlier in the day, they announced they would embark on a 10-city tour this fall with Martina McBride.

Noticing her advice was taken to heart, Lynn responded on Twitter late Monday.

“Well, it’s good advice! I stand by it!” Lynn said.

The two are regarded among the most influential musicians in Kentucky music history. Judd grew up in Ashland, while Lynn is from Johnson County.

Judd announced her major tour news on Monday, but Lynn recently shared significant news of her own.

The Grand Ole Opry will celebrate Lynn’s 90th birthday on Thursday, April 14. Among the performers will be Twitty and Lynn, the grandchildren of Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, who will be making their Opry debut.

“This is some kind of special! This is a fantastic birthday gift,” Lynn said on Twitter. “There’s nothing in the entire world like singing in the circle at the Opry.”

“I can’t wait for this show,” she added. “I know it’s going to be amazing....and surely that’s a typo, I’m not 90, am I?”
