Authorities say an “upset” husband was shot and killed after he confronted a man who took both their wives out for drinks in Texas, according to local reports.

After the man went drinking with the two women, he dropped the other wife off at her home shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, KHOU reported. As he did so, he and her husband got into an argument.

“This husband is upset. He confronts the man for taking his wife out drinking. And then, that’s when the shooting occurred,” Sgt. Ben Beall told KTRK.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said his deputies responded to the 24700 block of Oconee after gunshots were heard in the Tomball area, north of Houston. One person was found lying on the ground.

An early investigation into the fatal shooting found that the two men got into an argument before one of them left to get a gun, Gonzalez said on Twitter. The man later returned, and they continued arguing, before the armed man shot his friend.

The man accused of shooting the 41-year-old husband drove back home with his wife, KRTK reported, before he later returned to the scene.

The accused gunman was arrested, according to the Houston Chronicle, and the shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene with at least one gunshot wound.

The victim’s wife was taken to a hospital “because she was distraught from the shooting,” KHOU reported. The couple’s children were sleeping inside the home at the time of the shooting.

The suspect’s gun was found on the front porch of his home about two miles away, the Chronicle reported.

The shooting remains under investigation.
