A family’s dog had to be cut free after getting its head stuck in an old sink, Georgia fire and rescue officials said.

The “curious” canine needed rescuing after it managed to squeeze its head through the sink’s drainage hole, according to Pickens County Fire and Rescue.

Crews had just finished responding to a medical emergency on Tuesday, June 14, when the dog’s owners arrived at the fire station seeking help, rescuers wrote in a Facebook post. The family struggled to free their four-legged friend and pleaded with fire rescue officials to step in.

Photos shared by the fire department show a little white dog with its head poked through the bottom of the sink, the latter of half its body still free.

“Lt. Keith Elrod and Firefighter Terrance Evans immediately came to the aid of the owners,” the fire department wrote. “They assisted the owners with cutting the sink and removing the pet from its entrapment.”

The dog wasn’t hurt in the rescue and soon found itself reunited with its family, rescuers said.

Pickens County is about 60 miles north of downtown Atlanta.
