Police arrested four people accused of shoplifting $12,000 in lululemon products in Palo Alto and found $38,000 more in their minivan on Saturday, July 16, California police say.

Officers who arrested four people accused of shoplifting in a Palo Alto lululemon store found $12,000 in stolen clothing — but that wasn’t the half of it, California police reported.

Officers found another $38,000 in clothing stolen from other San Francisco Bay Area lululemon stores in their minivan parked outside, Palo Alto police said in a news release.

Security at a lululemon store at Stanford Shopping Center called 911 to report five people shoplifting about 6 p.m. local time Sunday, July 17, the release said.

Officers found 100 pairs of stolen leggings valued at $12,000 on four people still inside the store, police said. The fifth person vanished and has not been found.

Police also found garbage bags containing 300 more items of stolen clothing worth another $38,000 inside a 2007 Hyundai Entourage in the parking lot, the release said.

They had been stolen earlier in the day from lululemon stores in Burlingame and San Mateo, police said.

The four, ranging in age from 16 to 22, were arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft and other charges, the release said.
