Family argument over who will sleep on couch leads to fatal shooting, Arizona cops say

A 22-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting his uncle after a fight over who could sleep on their family couch, Arizona police said.
Authorities responded to a shooting at 10:28 p.m. on July 17 in Phoenix, police said in a probable cause statement.
On the night of the shooting, Dajoun Miller had texted his mother that he wanted to sleep on her couch and would fight his uncle over the spot, police said.
Family members who were inside the home told police they heard yelling downstairs and then gunshots, police said.
When the family members went downstairs, police said they saw Miller standing over his uncle and firing his gun at the man.
His uncle, Denzell Williams, was lying on the couch when he was shot in the face and upper body, police said.
After the shooting, police found Miller on the street outside the home. He told officers he shot someone and said he disassembled the gun he used, police said.
Miller was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder. His bail was set at $1 million.
His next court hearing is July 25.
