Man steals Amazon van and leads California cops on heart-pounding chase. See the video
A man stole an Amazon delivery van and led police on a dangerous chase after reports of home invasion robberies, California officials said.
Officers responded to reports of two home invasion robberies at a mobile home park on Monday, July 25, the Riverside Police Department said in a news release. The suspect carjacked an Amazon delivery van as he fled the area, police said.
Using GPS tracking, police located the stolen van, while also receiving calls about “an Amazon delivery van colliding into parked vehicles along Arlington Avenue,” police said.
When officers tried to stop the van, the driver continued, leading police on a chase “through city streets toward the 60 Freeway,” police said.
The driver crossed the median and crashed into a car just before entering the freeway, police said. The man then intentionally hit three occupied cars while on the freeway, and the “van became disabled,” police said.
The suspect then left the van and ran across freeway lanes, police said. When he failed to climb over a “tall barrier wall,” officers took him into custody.
Though the man caused significant damage to cars, there were no serious injuries from the robberies or pursuit, according to police.
Quintin Jarnall Larks, 32, of Las Vegas was arrested and is being held on $1 million bail, police said. He is facing charges of “attempted murder, home invasion robbery, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless evading of police, and suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing injury.”
