Man found stabbed to death in front yard of GA home, police say. Motive is a mystery

A Georgia man was found stabbed to death in the front yard of an Atlanta-area home over Labor Day weekend, sparking an investigation, police said.

Officers arrived around 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, after reports of a person on the ground at a home on Ridge Oak Drive in Suwanee, Gwinnett County Police said in a news release. There they found a man in his 40s with a stab wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities haven’t released the man’s name, but relatives identified him as 44-year-old Matthew Jones, multiple news outlets reported.

No arrests have been made, police said, and the motive remains a mystery. Additional information about the incident wasn’t immediately available.

Suwanee is about 30 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
