A woman was sexually assaulted by a man with a knife during a morning run, Colorado authorities said.

The woman was running on the “Pikes Peak Greenway Trail near Uintah Street” on Thursday, Oct. 27, when she was attacked by a man, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The man sexually assaulted the woman, whose arm was injured while fighting back, police said.

The man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, fled the area, police said.

“Patrol officers responded to the area and were unable to locate the suspect,” police said.

The man is described as standing about 6 feet tall with a medium build, police said. The woman also said the man had an “unkept beard” and “was dirty and smelled of alcohol.”
