Dad tries to save his daughter after she’s thrown from snowmobile, Michigan cops say
A 26-year-old woman was snowmobiling in Michigan when she went off the trail and was thrown from her snowmobile, authorities said.
Someone called 911 at about 7:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and reported a crash on Trail No. 2 in Marenisco Township, according to the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office.
As paramedics rushed to the scene, the Minnesota woman’s father and friend tried to save her, authorities said. They both attempted CPR.
The paramedics also took “life saving measures,” police said, but they were unable to save the woman. She died of crash-related injuries.
The sheriff’s office said the woman “failed to negotiate a slight curve” before she went off the trail, and “speed is believed to be a contributing factor” of the fatal crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
Authorities have not publicly identified the woman who died.
Marenisco Township is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
