Worker dies after he falls into concrete mixer and gets trapped, Florida deputies say

A man working with a concrete mixer at a pipe casting company was killed when he fell into the machine while it was on, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

The identity of the worker has not been released as of Friday, March 17. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected, county officials told McClatchy News.

Investigators are treating it as a workplace accident, officials said.

It happened around 5 p.m. on March 15 at Foley Products Company in Cantonment, which is about 20 miles northwest of Pensacola in the Panhandle.

Investigators report the worker suffered trauma when he fell into a “large scale” concrete mixer that is part of the plant’s machinery.

“He then became entangled inside of it,” WEAR reported.

Escambia Fire Rescue and EMS were first on the scene and pronounced the worker dead, officials said.

Foley Products is a Georgia-based company that manufactures storm and drainage system products, including precast concrete pipes, box culverts and manholes.

YouTube videos promoting the company show much of its equipment is large and automated.
