A lost hiker was found “extremely cold and weak” after staying on a snowy Washington mountain overnight, rescuers said.

Rescuers first began searching for the hiker at about 7:45 p.m., Friday, March 17, in the Mica Peak wilderness area, about 20 miles southeast of Spokane, the Spokane Valley Police Department said in a March 20 Facebook post.

Volunteers with the Spokane County Search and Rescue spent nearly 10 hours looking for the missing man, deputies said.

They hiked more than 7 miles in the cold before finding him at about 5:50 a.m. the next day in a “very remote and rugged area,” deputies said.

At about 7 a.m., he was hoisted into a helicopter, a video of the rescue shows.

He was then taken to a hospital, and “he is expected to make a full recovery,” deputies said.
