‘The Flying Nun House’ is up for sale in Nebraska. Here’s why fans say it’s ‘perfect’
Well, this is certainly new.
An estate tucked neatly away in the scenic countryside of Bellevue, Nebraska, has quietly flown onto the housing market for a steal… considering it’s an iconic home.
The Flying Nun House — listed for $695,000 — is a mid-century marvel thanks to its unique roof shape and also its interior design.
“The floor plan is a football,” Bill Regier told Omaha World-Herald. “It was his pride and joy.”
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom house was designed by Regier’s father — architect Willis Regier, the World-Herald noted. The house was named “The Flying Nun” after the popular Sally Field series.
While the exterior is something to behold, the inside appears to be a time capsule all its own, with furnishings that look straight out of the 1960s and ‘70s.
“The grand foyer welcomes you with a wide hall and an original built in circular bench leading to a wet bar, an amazing open floor plan living room, and an astonishing custom stainless steel fireplace,” the listing on Zillow.com says. “You’ll be impressed with the half moon wall of windows, the beautiful solid wood paneling, the amazingly crafted light fixtures, and the owners impeccable taste in building materials.”
And yes, there’s even carpeted ceilings.
The 3,476-square-foot house was featured on Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page and Twitter account that showcases unique homes for sale all around the country, and people were in love.
“WOW. I mean I know the point of this is to bash, but this is some seriously amazing time capsule uniqueness here. Very cool,” one person said.
“I love stuff like this! It’s so nostalgic and just makes me feel good inside,” another gushed.
“How cool is that?! Would love to see it in person!” someone commented.
“I love this house.. everything about it is perfect!” one person said.
“Yes. This is perfection,” someone tweeted.
Bellevue is about 10 miles south of Omaha.
