Golfer checks Powerball ticket after round and ends up in a ‘state of shock’ in WA
A man played a round of golf in Washington and then remembered to check his Powerball ticket.
He realized he won $50,000 — leaving him in a “state of shock.”
The Seattle resident stopped at a Safeway to grab groceries when he saw the high Powerball jackpot, Washington’s Lottery said in an Oct. 30 news release.
He told lottery officials he doesn’t play lottery games often, but he told himself “why not?” and bought the ticket.
The next day he played a round of golf and then remembered to scan his ticket.
That’s when he saw “See Lottery Office” on his phone. He checked the winning numbers and learned he won $50,000.
He went home to tell his wife, who was taking a break from staining their floor. Lottery officials said they celebrated the big prize by finishing the floor together.
Now the couple has plans to put the money aside for their son’s college fund and to use it on home renovations.
