Man who’s played lottery for decades wins huge in Maryland. ‘This is my Super Bowl’
A man who has been playing the lottery for decades had never won more than $500.
That was until a $5 game he’d never played before landed him a $100,000 prize, according to a March 25 news release by the Maryland Lottery.
The lucky winner, who grew up as a Baltimore Ravens fan, bought two Ravens X5 scratch-offs, officials said.
The first ticket turned out to be a dud, but as he was scratching the second ticket, he learned he’d matched the winning number, officials said.
The man thought the win was a mistake, so he asked the employee to “scan the game again,” officials said.
“Man, ain’t no way this happening to me! This is my Super Bowl,” the man told lotto officials.
The man went to his car and put the ticket in his wallet and went to work, the lottery said.
“I didn’t tell anyone or show my ticket off because I was paranoid I would lose it,” the winner told officials.
The man has no concrete plans for the money other than paying bills and putting the rest into savings, officials said.
There’s still two $100,000 top prizes waiting to be claimed, officials said.
