Woman scratches lottery ticket during lunch break in Maryland. Prize left her ‘crying’
A woman in Maryland was left “shaken and crying” after learning of her massive lottery win, officials said.
The lucky finance worker bought a $30 Mega Money instant ticket in Prince George’s County and decided to start scratching it during her lunch break, according to a June 3 news release from the Maryland Lottery.
Soon after beginning to scratch the ticket, she realized she’d landed $2 million, officials said.
The first two lines held 10 $50,000 prizes, per the release.
“It was a lot of $50,000 prizes and I just knew that I won $2,000,000,” she told officials.
She hid the ticket to “avoid attracting attention” and scratched the rest of the game at home, officials said.
That’s when the woman learned all 40 of the numbers in the game were holding a $50,000 prize, according to the release.
The woman plans to use the money to put a down payment on a house and then save the rest, officials said.
This win means there are four $2 million prizes remaining, officials said.
Prince George’s County is about a 40-mile drive southwest of Baltimore.
