Man threatens Facebook seller over $30 refund, IN cops say. ‘I’ll come for your kids’
An Indiana man threatened to show up with a gun at the home of a woman who sold him a fire pit on Facebook Marketplace, authorities said.
The 55-year-old man from Hebron was arrested June 10 on a charge of intimidation, according to a June 11 report from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.
McClatchy News was unable to locate any attorney information for the suspect.
According to investigators, he threatened the seller because the fire pit, which he purchased for $30, broke about a week after he bought it.
The man demanded his money back, but the seller denied his request, authorities said.
He sent the woman Facebook messages saying “I want my (expletive) money back! Or I will return with an (expletive) Glock,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Another message said “You think you’re getting away from this, think again (expletive) I’ll come for your kids,” authorities said.
The woman told authorities she was afraid he would return since the sale happened at her Valparaiso home, according to the sheriff’s office.
Valparaiso is about a 150-mile drive northwest from Indianapolis.
