‘Sweet’ shelter dogs needed a home. Now the best friends have a new one — together
Two dog friends were surrendered when their owner couldn’t take care of them.
Then came the heartwarming news that the “sweet” South Carolina pups were adopted — together.
“Our team was so excited for them when they were adopted because oftentimes when we have bonded pairs come into the shelter, it can be twice as difficult to place them into a home,” a Greenville Humane Society spokesperson told McClatchy News in a July 15 email. “But we are so happy they found their happily ever after together!”
Bear and Blonde, both Labrador retrievers, got a second chance after experiencing a rough patch.
“Bear and Blonde came to us as owner surrenders after their owner became an amputee and could no longer provide the care they needed,” the shelter wrote “At just 1.5 years old, these two were spunky, playful, sweet, and loving from the day they came to us!”
At the shelter, the dogs also were described as “velvety soft and ready for a cuddle at all times.” Though the humane society didn’t immediately share additional information about the dogs’ close relationship, it hoped the pair wouldn’t be separated.
“This luscious duo is looking for a forever family ready to take on twice the shenanigans, twice the fur, and twice the love,” the animal organization wrote July 12 on Facebook.
Then that same day, the shelter announced that the dogs’ luck took a turn for the better. The “forever best friends” were adopted into the same home, starting their next chapter together.
