Lottery player buys $5 scratch-off in Maryland. Now his wife gets her wish granted
A man who plays the lottery daily landed a win that “worked out perfectly,” Maryland officials said.
The Harford County man was in the process of having a new home built when he decided to buy a $5 Joker’s Wild ticket, according to an Aug. 2 news release by the Maryland Lottery.
He had no idea the scratch-off was carrying a $50,000 prize, officials said.
The man has won “a little here and a little there,” with his personal best being $5,000, officials said.
The man started scratching the ticket, which eventually revealed a $5,000 win. But when he kept scratching, “it just kept going,” officials said.
In the end, the ticket revealed 10 separate wins of $5,000 for the $50,000 total, lottery officials said.
“This can’t be real,” the winner told officials.
The man plans to use the money on home renovations his wife has been wishing for, a screened-in porch, a crab feast and an Atlantic cruise, officials said.
Harford County is about a 30-mile drive northeast from Baltimore.
