Man buys $2 lottery ticket in Florida — then life-changing prize leaves him ‘shocked’
A lottery player was “shocked” to see a $2 ticket he bought at a Florida convenience store was worth a jackpot prize.
Edin Galindo of Tampa won a top prize in the $50,000 A Year For Life game and opted for a one-time payout of $815,000, the Florida Lottery said Aug. 22.
He beat the 1-in-4,815,975 odds to win one of eight top prizes in the scratch-off game, which debuted in July 2023, according to the Florida Lottery.
Galindo claimed his prize in Tallahassee, telling lottery officials he was “very excited” about his win.
The 41-year-old made his purchase at a Tampa Quick Mart, which will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, according to the Florida Lottery.
Only three top prizes remain in the game.
