Two people are dead after a driver with a gunshot wound crashed into a man standing on the shoulder of a highway, Pennsylvania police say.

It happened before 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, near Ridley Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Joshua Waltz, 33, of Delaware, was standing by the rear bumper of his 2010 Chevrolet Malibu after it had broken down on Interstate 95, police said. A gray 2010 Mazda5, driven by a 29-year-old man identified as Clinton Martin, careened into the right shoulder and “dragged itself along” for a quarter-mile until it ran over Waltz, police said.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Waltz was found under Clinton’s car, and police discovered Clinton had suffered a gunshot wound.

Police didn’t say when they believe Clinton was shot, or who might have done it, but a homicide investigation is underway. Investigators are also asking witnesses to come forward.

“Troopers are asking that anyone driving in the area of this incident that have a vehicle equipped with a dash cam or any other mobile recording devices on their vehicles to contact PSP to assist with this investigation,” police said.

Ridley Township is a roughly 20-mile drive southwest from downtown Philadelphia.
