A grandpa listened to his dream and bought a Powerball ticket that won him $50,000.

The man got the ticket for the Sept. 7 drawing, the Maryland Lottery said in a Sept. 23 news release.

The previous night, he had a dream that a “famous actor” — who “shall remain as anonymous as the winner” — told him to buy a ticket, the lottery office said.

The actor didn’t tell the man what numbers to play or on what date. He stopped at a liquor store in White Marsh after work the next day and got an $8 ticket.

He selected the Quick Pick option, so his numbers were chosen randomly, the lottery office said.

The man and his wife checked his ticket a few days later using the lottery app.

The app alerted them to his $50,000 win.

Now, the couple has plans to use the money on buying a home.

White Marsh is about a 15-mile drive northeast from Baltimore.

What to know about Powerball

To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
