Woman plays favorite lottery game and wins huge prize. ‘I started screaming’
A Michigan woman started screaming after winning a huge prize from playing her favorite lottery game.
The 33-year-old woman bought a Colossal Cashword scratch-off lottery ticket in Portage, according to an Oct. 7 news release from the Michigan Lottery.
“Colossal Cashword has been my favorite game since it came out,” the woman told lottery officials. “I scratched the barcode right when I bought the ticket and gave it to the clerk to scan it. He handed it back with a slip that said to file a claim at the Lottery office and said: ‘You must have won big; you have to go to the Lottery office.”
But the woman didn’t wait until going to the lottery office to find out how much she won.
“I went home and scratched the ticket, and when I revealed the tenth word and saw it was a prize of $2 million, I started screaming. Winning feels good and came at the perfect time,” she said.
The woman chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million. She said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills and save the rest for her kids.
Portage is about 55 miles south of Grand Rapids.
