A shelter in Ohio is pleading with the public on behalf of a pup who is losing his faith with each passing day he’s ignored by families looking to adopt.

Boombox, an adult American Staffordshire terrier mix, is the Brown County Humane Society Dog Shelter’s longest resident and his heart is breaking with every person who passes him by, the shelter said in a Dec. 6 Facebook post.

“He has not had one meet and greet. Not one person has asked to see him, not one application. And he has been here for months,” the shelter, which is located in Georgetown, said.

“Now realistically, he came to the shelter in really bad shape and was traumatized by the abject neglect he endured. So took us a while to get him healthy.

“But he has been healthy for a while now.”

Shelter life has started to take its toll on the pup and depression is starting to kick in.

“Boombox needs a hero now more than ever. He has been here too long and is starting to show signs of kennel stress. He’s losing weight, his coat is starting to dull and he is anxious. Long term sheltering will do that,” the shelter continued.

Desperate on Boombox’s behalf, the shelter is being “transparent” about asking for help with him, hoping to nab the attention of a loving person willing to take a chance on the dog.

“We need help with Boombox. This kid has been through the ringer and deserves a chance. Boombox has been shown to be good with other dogs. He is a rough and rowdy player. No cats,” the shelter said. “Boombox is super food motivated which makes him easy to train. He is a friendly guy but a little aloof at first. He just isn’t used to anyone being nice to him but once he figures it out he loves it.”

Georgetown is about a 40-mile drive southeast of Cincinnati.
