Spurned girlfriend trashes ex’s car, Florida cops say. But there was a slight mix up
Trashing a guy’s car is nothing new among angry exes, but one Florida woman took it to an absurd level after having a little too much to drink, according to Florida investigators.
Closer inspection revealed she vandalized a car belonging to one of the neighbors by mistake, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a Feb. 26 news release.
The vandalism-in-progress call came early Wednesday, Feb. 26, in Deltona, and a photo shows the yellow graffiti included the word “Devil” on the driver’s side door.
“Responding deputies spotted two female subjects in the area, ages 18 and 16, one of whom had yellow spray paint on her sweatpants,” the sheriff’s office said.
“The 18-year-old admitted she was upset with her ex-boyfriend, so she and her friend decided to spray-paint and throw eggs at what they thought was his vehicle. Unfortunately the vehicle in question belonged to a neighbor, not her ex-boyfriend.”
A search revealed two open containers of Four Loko malt beverages, an empty bottle of Crown Royal, a can of yellow spray paint and marijuana in a bag belonging to the 16-year-old, officials said.
The 18-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of alcohol under 21 and driving under the influence, officials said.
The 16-year-old was charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams, officials said.
Deltona is about a 30-mile drive north from Orlando.
