Massive sea creatures spotted off California coast. See the ‘exciting sighting’
A “dynamic day” on the water was filled with massive sea creatures off the California coast.
On June 10, a group got the chance to see “big breaches” from humpbacks, according to a Facebook Monterey Bay Whale Watch.
Later on, they were able to see Risso’s dolphins before the star of the show revealed itself in an “exciting sighting”: a blue whale, the company said.
Blue whales can weigh up to 330,000 pounds and grow to 110 feet long, making their length about the same as the height of a 10-story building, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
They can live up to 90 years, though one famously lived to be 110 years old, according to the nonprofit Whale and Dolphin Conservation.
On June 8, the group got a chance to see another blue whale, McClatchy News reported.
Although the “massive marine mammals” looked similar, the newest sighting was smaller, the group said.
Commenters rushed to share how the “awesome pictures” made them feel, with one person saying, “majesty.”
“Really great photos,” another person wrote.
Monterey is about a 120-mile drive southeast from San Francisco.
