Woman calls 911 to say husband’s been shot, OR officials say. Her dad is charged
A man fatally shot his son-in-law while his daughter and grandchild were home, Oregon prosecutors say.
David Lynn Jurgenson, 72, was arraigned on multiple counts, including second-degree murder, on Monday, Aug. 4, in the death of Marc Richard Floyd, 37, the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Attorney information for Jurgenson was not immediately available.
Jurgenson is accused of fatally shooting Floyd “after a domestic dispute” at Jurgenson’s home Friday, Aug. 1, prosecutors said.
“At the time of the shooting,” both Jurgenson’s daughter and 17-month-old grandchild were also inside the home, prosecutors said.
Clackamas County deputies said they were dispatched to a home near Happy Valley after a woman called 911 and told dispatchers “her husband had been shot,” according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Deputies said they arrived to find Jurgenson “standing outside his home,” and soon took him into custody.
After helping Jurgenson’s daughter and grandchild leave the home, deputies said they entered to find Floyd in the living room.
Deputies tried to save Floyd, who looked to have “at least one gunshot wound to the chest,” the sheriff’s office said.
First responders arrived and took over caring for Floyd, who “died a short time later,” deputies said.
In addition to second-degree muder, prosecutors said Jurgenson is facing “two counts of unlawful use of weapon and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.”
Jurgenson, who is being held without bail, is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 11, prosecutors said.
Happy Valley is about a 15-mile drive southeast from Portland.
