47-year-old vanished on solo hike, California cops say. Now search suspended
A search for a Northern California woman who vanished on a solo hike near the ocean has been suspended, authorities reported.
Sunshine Borjas, 47, of Santa Rosa left her home to drive to Bodega Head to hike at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a news release.
She was reported missing that evening, and law enforcement found her vehicle in the Bodega Head parking lot early the next morning, police said.
Borjas is described as approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and approximately 155 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes, deputies said. Borjas was last seen wearing a grey shirt, grey leggings and black sneakers.
After “countless hours” of searches with a helicopter, boats, planes, drones, dogs and ground searchers, the search for Borjas has been suspended, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said in a Monday, Oct. 6, update.
They ask anyone with information to call 707-528-5222 or 707-565-2121.
Bodega Head is a 1.7-mile-long hike along a peninsula with beaches and cliff views on the Pacific Ocean, AllTrails said. It is rated as an easy hike.
Santa Rosa is about a 55-mile drive north from San Francisco.
