Dad visiting Florida with family accused of touching woman at beach, police say
A tourist visiting Florida with his wife and kids is accused of inappropriate behavior when he hit on another woman at the beach, according to investigators.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at the 11th Avenue beach access in Naples, police reported in an Oct. 15 news release.
“The victim stated that an unknown male approached her on the beach and touched her without consent after she asked him to stop. The suspect gave her his phone number and instructed her to meet him the following day,” police said.
“Surveillance footage and witness statements supported the victim’s account.”
The man left the beach, and additional footage showed him getting into a car driven by his wife and carrying his two children, police said.
Investigators were able to identify suspect as a 44-year-old man from Prior Lake, Minnesota, about 1,700 miles from Naples.
He was arrested Oct. 14, “positively identified by the victim” and charged with misdemeanor battery by touching or striking, police said. He was released on bond the next day, jail records show.
The suspect has a prior conviction of indecent exposure in Minnesota, police said.
Naples is about a 170-mile drive south from Tampa.
