Trump says Russia helping Iran 'a little bit'
WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump believes it is possible that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is helping Iran in its war with the United States and Israel.
"I think he might be helping them a little bit, yeah, I guess, and he probably thinks we're helping Ukraine, right? Trump told Fox News in a radio interview on Friday. He acknowledged that the U.S. is helping Ukraine.
Several media outlets have reported that Russia was providing Iran with information on U.S. forces and potential targets in the Middle East.
U.S. broadcaster CNN and the Washington Post have reported that Moscow was supplying Tehran with location details and movement data on U.S. troops, ships and aircraft.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who is leading the U.S. delegation in talks with Moscow and Kyiv to end the war in Ukraine, has been questioned about this on several occasions recently.
Witkoff has said that he informed Russia that it should not support Tehran with intelligence regarding the war. He also said recently that Russian representatives had assured Trump in a telephone conversation that they would not share intelligence with Iran.
