Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the president is scheduled to campaign Monday for U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, in Mount Sterling, Barr’s spokeswoman Jodi Whitaker confirmed Saturday.

Whitaker said Trump Jr. would be at the Montgomery County Airport at 10:15 a.m. Monday as Barr heads into the final hours of his re-election bid in Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District. His Democratic challenger Amy McGrath earlier had former Vice President Joe Biden accompany her at a rally in the district.

Trump Jr. will be the fourth prominent Republican to campaign with Barr in the district in advance of Tuesday’s general election.

This week, Republican Speaker of the U.S. House Paul Ryan appeared with Barr in Scott County, McGrath’s home county. Ryan is giving up the speaker’s job and not running for re-election. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise appeared at a rally for Barr Friday in Versailles.

Last month, President Donald Trump held a rally in Richmond.

Trump Jr. is acquainted with Kentucky, having stopped in the state on previous hunting excursions. He brought his son to learn about falconry on a September trip.

Another of President Trump’s children, Ivanka Trump, made a stop in Kentucky in October and touted her father’s administration and policies.

Unlike Ivanka Trump’s low-key appearances, Trump Jr. has led more than 60 campaign events to roaring crowds, the Herald-Leader’s D.C. bureau reported.
