Former Gov. Matt Bevin took to Twitter to weigh in on how coronavirus is being handled Wednesday evening, and it was not well received by other Kentucky Twitter users.

Bevin referenced “Chicken Little,” and said others were acting like the sky was falling.

“Everyone is advised to take cover immediately and to bring lots of toilet paper with them when they do so,” Bevin said.

The former governor was extensively criticized. Responders to the tweet seemed to take it as a shot at Gov. Andy Beshear, who defeated Bevin in the Kentucky gubernatorial election in November.

Most responses claimed Bevin would not be handling the coronavirus situation well, and many said they thought Kentucky voters made the right choice by voting Bevin out of office in November.

“I see a calm, stable person leading our state as Governor,” said Twitter user @PaulaEquine. “Extremely grateful it’s Andy Beshear and not you during these times.”

Others said they were just happy that Bevin is no longer governor.

“Thank goodness you are no longer governor,” said Twitter user @JayHatfield16.

“This tweet reminds me of how happy I am that you are no longer governor,” added user @ch1mmmy.

This is not the first time Bevin has tweeted about COVID-19 in the last few weeks. He initially said the American response seemed “a bit out of line.”
