Some good news: Lexington will restart curbside recycling Monday

The city of Lexington will restart recycling on Monday after suspending all recycling for several weeks due to a mechanical problem at the Thompson Road recycling center.

The recycling center closed April 13 because of a broken shaft, which moves recyclables through the recycling center. The issue has been fixed, city officials said Friday.

Residential, business and dumpster recycling should resume Monday.

“We know blue carts have been filling up fast with folks spending more time at home,” said Tracey Thurman, director of waste management. “We are grateful that Machinex was able to quickly get us parts and work with us on the installation.”
