Attorney General Daniel Cameron lent his support to former president Donald Trump in his legal battle with the U.S. Department of Justice over classified documents seized by the FBI at Trump’s home in Florida.

Along with 10 other Republican attorneys general, Cameron signed onto an amicus brief filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. The brief was written to support affirming the district court’s decision to appoint a special master to review the seized material – that decision was requested by Trump’s legal team.

The attorneys general also highlighted perceived misdoings of President Biden’s administration’s legal team in their brief, as the Republican states represented have frequently sued the Democratic administration.

“(These) states have been frequent litigants against the Biden Administration, and they offer this amicus brief to highlight how the Administration’s conduct in connection with this case is of a piece with the gamesmanship and other questionable conduct that have become the hallmarks of its litigating, policy-making, and public-relations efforts,” the brief states.

Cameron has previously sued to block Biden-backed vaccine mandates for healthcare workers and federal contractors.

The attorney general’s office has yet to provide comment on the amicus brief.

Cameron has received the endorsement of Trump in his bid for the Republican nomination for governor in 2023. Trump called Cameron a “rising star” in the party when he threw his support behind the 36 year-old attorney general.

Cameron’s name has remained in the headlines of late due to his defense of Kentucky’s trigger ban on abortion, which includes no exceptions for rape or incest, and his handling of the Breonna Taylor case in light of federal charges against Louisville cops conencted to her death.
