Former Lexington councilwoman tapped as RNC co-chair with Trump’s blessing
With the support of president-elect Donald Trump, Lexington’s KC Crosbie was elected as co-chair of the Republican National Committee on Friday.
Crosbie will serve alongside recently re-elected RNC Chair Michael Whatley, who has led the party for almost a year. She replaced Lara Trump, the president-elect’s daughter-in-law, at the co-chair position.
Crosbie previously served as treasurer of the RNC.
Though she’s a somewhat new player on the national stage, Crosbie has long been prominent in Kentucky Republican and Lexington political circles. Crosbie was first elected to serve on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council in 2006, where she served three terms. She also ran unsuccessfully for Kentucky State Treasurer in 2011 and alongside former gubernatorial hopeful Hal Heiner as his lieutenant governor pick in 2015.
Crosbie is married to Scott Crosbie, whose law firm represents Lexington’s police and corrections unions. Scott Crosbie ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Lexington in 2002. In August, the couple were among the co-hosts of a Lexington fundraiser for Vice President-elect JD Vance.
President-elect Trump, whose influence in his party proved rock solid in his easy 2024 primary victory and only solidified when he defeated Vice President Kamala Harris last November, praised Crosbie as she vied for the co-chair position.
“KC has been with me from the very beginning, helping REAL Republicans get elected across the Country, and would be a tremendous Co-Chair of the RNC,” Trump wrote on TruthSocial when he endorsed her in December. “KC will work on continuing to ensure a highly functioning, fiscally responsible, and effective RNC that makes Election Integrity a highest priority. KC Crosbie has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Co-Chair of the RNC!”
Republicans in Kentucky heralded the news of her election to the co-chair post. Republican Party of Kentucky Communications Director, Andy Westberry congratulated Crosbie “on earning the confidence of the president and the 168 members of the RNC.”
“KC has spent decades promoting and protecting conservative values in Kentucky and across the nation. As co-chair, she will bring invaluable perspectives to the RNC. She will also prioritize ensuring that our elections remain fair and secure. Additionally, she will work to strategically allocate RNC resources to win close races in battleground states and build on President Trump’s historic electoral gains,” Westberry wrote.
