Rep. Thomas Massie announces marriage to former Rand Paul staffer

Rep. Thomas Massie has remarried, he announced on social media Monday.

The longtime Northern Kentucky congressman posted Monday that he had married Carolyn Grace Moffa on Oct. 19.

The marriage occurred just over a year since the sudden passing of his wife, Rhonda, in June 2024. The congressman and Rhonda Massie were high school sweethearts and were married for 31 years.

The newlyweds met when Moffa worked as a staffer on agriculture policy under fellow Kentucky politician Sen. Rand Paul, according to Massie’s post.

“As Senator Paul’s Ag policy staffer until 2016, Carolyn was a very early proponent and practitioner of Making America Healthy Again. She even visited me and my late wife Rhonda on our grass-fed cattle farm several years ago,” Massie wrote.

Massie and his late wife have four adult children, who are all married, and three grandchildren.

Moffa is 36 years old, and Massie is 54. The union is Moffa’s first marriage.

He wrote that he proposed to Moffa on the steps of the Library of Congress, where they held their first date.

They were legally married in Massie’s native Kentucky but held a ceremony in Pennsylvania, where Moffa is from.

“Fun facts about our wedding: Of course we served raw milk with the wedding cake and margaritas made with frozen peaches from our farm! Senator Rand Paul and Representatives Jim Jordan, Warren Davidson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Victoria Spartz attended, however the real VIPs were my three grandkids. My oldest grandson was the ring bearer,” Massie wrote.
