President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday giving most federal employees two additional paid holidays.

Under the Dec. 18 order, most government workers will now have Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas off.

The order only applies to federal employees. There were about 23,000 civilian federal workers in Kentucky before Trump slashed the federal workforce earlier this year. That figure doesn’t include contractors or uniformed service members living in the Bluegrass State.

Though federal offices will now close to observe the additional holidays, U.S. Postal Service offices and mail delivery will operate as usual Dec. 24 and 26, according to a USPS spokesman. As was the case before the executive order, the only postal service available Christmas Day will be Priority Mail Express.

Kentucky state employees will have off Christmas Day and Dec. 26, but not Christmas Eve, according to a calendar published by the commonwealth. Steeley Franco, a spokeswoman for Kentucky’s personnel office, said offices would be open normal business hours Christmas Eve.

Lexington city offices will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, opening again Dec. 26.
