Anti-Trump No Kings protests return to Lexington, 36 other KY cities. When & where
A third No Kings protest will be held in downtown Lexington Saturday in what organizers are billing as a defense of democracy.
The demonstration, slated for 1 to 4 p.m. in the courthouse plaza, is being organized by a host of left-leaning groups, plus the local chapters of the NAACP and the League of Women Voters.
No road closures are planned for the demonstration as of Tuesday afternoon. Lexington police will be on the scene “monitoring the event,” Lexington Police Department spokesperson Hannah Sloan said. When asked how many officers would be present, she said, “We do not have any addition information to release.”
Updates will be released on social media or in a news release, Sloan added.
The two other No Kings protests in Fayette County, held in June and October, each attracted thousand of demonstrators and had something of a carnival atmosphere. Past No Kings demonstrators were animated by a military parade held on President Donald Trump’s birthday, the deployment of National Guardsmen on American streets and the Epstein files.
Since October, the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown has resulted in the deaths of two Americans, and the president unilaterally launched a war with Iran.
Saturday’s Lexington No Kings demonstration will be one of more than 3,000, the national organization said in a news release. That is an uptick from the 2,500 to 2,700 held in October.
