Lexington mayor has more than $190,000 in hand for re-election campaign
Mayor Jim Gray has raised more than $250,000 for his re-election campaign even though no challenger has announced a bid against the one-term mayor.
According to campaign finance reports filed with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance on Monday, Gray raised about $75,000 in September alone, $85,970 from July through September.
To date, Gray has $192,925 cash on hand. He has collected $252,530 so far for a possible May primary in 2014.
Anthany Beatty, a former Lexington police chief, and Mike Scanlon, a local businessman and former vice mayor, have said they are considering a possible run against Gray. But they have not officially announced.
