Bevin makes 3 key appointments for his office

Gov. Matt Bevin appointed three people Wednesday to his office — Catherine Gatewood Easley as deputy chief of staff for external affairs, Jessica Ditto as communications director and Stephanie Nelson as scheduling director.

A release said Easley’s job is to ensure that programs and communications foster a greater understanding of Bevin’s agenda, his administration and its mission. Easley has served as communications director for U.S. Reps. Andy Barr of Lexington, Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Bob Gibbs of Ohio. She also worked for former U.S. Rep. Anne Northup of Louisville and former U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning of Southgate.

During Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, Easley was the Republican National Committee’s formal spokeswoman and media liaison in Ohio.

Ditto was communications director for Bevin’s campaign and transition office. She has more than 10 years of political and public sector communications experience. Before the campaign, Ditto was director of education program operations for the national non-profit organization, Connected Nation, based in Bowling Green.

Nelson will handle scheduling for Bevin, Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton and first lady Glenna Bevin. She has 10 years of experience in non-profit association work, most recently working with the Kentucky Association for Economic Developers.
